Having the best travel essentials can make your trip more enjoyable, comfortable, and safe. Here are the top things that I recommend you buy.
Backpack
Buy a good bag pack to stay organized and to make your travels easier. Look for one with slightly padded straps, and with compartments! Our family travels light, most often with just carryons - even for longer trips. Osprey is our go-to brand. It is light and this particular one - Osprey Farpoint 40 is a domestic carry-on size. And, it is multi-use as you can take it for a work-trip as well as a camping trip. Decent compartments, too.
Packing cubes
Packing cubes are important when you travel because they help you stay organized and make it easier to find your things. They also help to protect your belongings from getting wrinkled or damaged.
Because we travel light, we are always looking for ways to organize our luggage and maximize space. Most often, the struggle we face is to compartmentalize our dirty clothes for laundry and shoes. There are many brand out there, you get what you pay for, with often issues with the zipper and rips. You can get some cubes for wayyy cheaper but we are all about the middle ground, so not too expensive and not too cheap.
Pinzon is an Amazon brand with decent reviews and it looks good. The fabric is decent, quality is fine and it helps you compress your stuff. AND - you get six bags.
Headphones
Headphones are a great idea for travelers who want to block out noise and get some rest. Popular options include the Bose QuietComfort 35 II, the Sony WH-1000XM4, and the Sennheiser Momentum 3.
BEATS on Amazon often has amazing sales. Beats is a popular headphone company that was founded in 2006 by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. The company is known for its stylish headphones that offer powerful bass. Beats headphones are often seen as a status symbol, and they have been endorsed by celebrities such as LeBron James and Justin Bieber. Explore the Beats-over-ear headphones brand - and its premium quality with bluetooth and quick charge functionality.
Portable chargers
Portable chargers are definitely life savers! They're so convenient to have on hand, whether you're traveling, going on a hike, or just running errands around town. I've been in so many situations where I've been saved by my portable charger, like when my phone died at Disneyland! If you don't own one of these chargers, I would strongly suggest you invest in one to keep your devices charged on the go. Popular brands include Anker, RavPower, and Aukey.
My favorite is INIU, I carry it everywhere! It is really slim, fairly lightweight, compatible with both Apple and Samsung, and has a USB-C IN & OUT port. It charges really quickly, and is a great device to carry on your travels.
Travel adapters
I find travel adapters to be essential for international travel. The electrical outlets in different countries use different types of plugs, so you'll need a travel adapter to plug your devices into the wall. Travel adapters are a small investment that can save you a lot of hassle and potential damage to your devices.
Popular brands include Ceptics, Bestek, and OREI. I personally prefer the EPICKA Universal Travel Adapter which is all-in-one adapter with 4 different plugs that cover over 150 countries! You can charge up to 6 devices simultaneously! This does not convert voltage so do not use with high-power appliances.
AirTag
This is a great way to keep track of your bags and find them via the Find My App on Apple phones. One-tap set-up connects the AirTag with your device! A set of four is available on Amazon. After my experiences losing my bags in and out of Heathrow (yes, two times in one trip), this is something I advise everyone to buy! That, or just focus on carry-on luggage and don't check in your bags at all.
Neck pillows
If you find that you are having trouble sleeping on airplanes, a neck pillow may be a helpful solution. Neck pillows like the Cabeau Evolution Pillow, the Trtl Pillow, and the BCOZZY Chin Supporting Travel Pillow are popular choices for long-haul flights. Consider this inexpensive but well reviewed memory foam travel pillow, which is also washable and adjustable. It is sold by a company called TALLGO and it is great for head, neck and chin support.
Socks
A warm pair of socks is great on a plane journey. Your doctor may recommend you wear compression socks to boost circulation in the legs. In that case, some popular brands include Physix Gear Sport Compression Socks, Wanderlust Air Travel Compression Socks, and FuelMeFoot Copper Compression Socks. I personally like something warm and cozy instead. The Barefoot Dreams socks are a cozy chic fabric. They are soft and warm, and are super well recommended on both Amazon and Nordstrom.
Eye Mask
An eye mask is an amazing invention for those who travel and take red-eye flights. This soft and comfortable mask fits all sizes, blocks the light and works well for side sleepers as well. Check it out: MZOO Luxury mask on Amazon.
Water Bottle
A reusable water bottle is a great idea to travel with to the airport. It is more environmentally-friendly, cost effective and convenient. Buy yourself a water bottle which is made of stainless steel, with spout, flip and handle lids, is BPA Free and non-toxic. I have four of these IRON °FLASK bottles and I really love them. The smaller size ones are great for travel. And yes, they are cheaper than the Hydroflask but have the same functionality!
